The Bonds Law Firm has successfully represented clients in virtually all types of criminal matters, at all stages. Initially, Mr. Bonds will personally conduct a formal interview with the firm's potential client, at no charge to that potential client. At that time, we will assess the merits and flaws of each potential case, and based on that assessment, we will advise the potential client of the best and most effective course of action for him or her to take, keeping in mind that our common goal is to win.
In complex cases, and in matters where the potential client simply wants a "second opinion," our firm will conduct a complete preliminary investigation into the matter, and prepare a written, formal legal opinion. Such legal opinion will detail the nature of the charges which have been brought (or which are forthcoming) against a potential client, the penalties thereto, and we will analyze any legal and/or factual issues and defenses the potential client may have. Many times a formal legal opinion will allow the potential client, who is not fully versed in criminal trial and appellate practice, to gain an understanding of matters of law with which he or she will be involved, without having to absorb all nuances of law during an initial interview.
Our firm also provides consulting services to other attorneys in their preparation of criminal cases. We assist in obtaining discovery, drafting pretrial motions, drafting legal briefs, determining trial strategy, advancing sentencing issues, drafting appellate briefs and preparing and pursuing post-conviction remedies. One of our firm's most sought-after services by other attorneys is our assistance in their evaluation of presentence investigation reports in federal courts, and navigating the United States Sentencing Guidelines. Although the United States Sentencing Guidelines no longer invoke mandatory application, they remain advisory and every sentencing judge must consult them prior to imposing sentence. Our vast experience in this area allows us to innovatively and creatively find every possible angle which will provide a defendant with the lowest sentencing guideline range, and present any mitigating factors which will convince a sentencing judge to depart below that range.
Again, we welcome the opportunity to win your case.
